How can I create a bulge effect on an attribute or set of points, the bulge SOP requires groups and I want to use floats instead of integers ?

The option to create a rest position before the Bulge and mix it afterwards in a wrangle using an attribute mask is always available.

Is it possible to make it bulge without a shape or a metaball in your case in a direction ?

The Bulge SOP was made to work with metaballs.

If you just want to 'shape' by attribute alone you could do what I have in the hip.
