i am thinking about getting a display card for houdini. Anyone has tried using ATI 9700pro or 9500 with houdini? Any review of ATI cards with houdini?

I have a mobility Radeon that it MOSTLY works on. I have severe perfomance problems when dragging sliders that I would love to know how to fix. setting HOUDINI_OGL_OVERLAY_SUPPORT to 0 gives me a blank screen when it starts houdini so that is no help.

Nope, that fixes the stage double buffer dropouts, doesn't affect perfomance. This I have heard is overlay related. Has anyone else out there had experience with Houdini on a Mobility Radeon 9000? A desktop 9000? Should I now be seriously regretting buying the ATI based machine?
