I've downloaded and installed Houdini 5.5.230 on WinXP and get this meesage when I start Houdini….

FATAL ERROR: Usage: /PROGRA~1/Side <title> <pid>

Have you tried re-installing Houdini? Also, did you have administrative privileges when installing Houdini?

Please also try re-installing Houdini to c:\houdini5.5.230 if you still get the error.

Hi - I've tried the reinstall under a different directory and get the same error. I also noticed the app appeared briefly with the dialog box stating:

houdini.exe load failed: no such file or directory.

Did you reboot your machine after the installation? Are there any error codes during or after the installation?

May I know where did you download the installation file from? Also, do you have any service packs installed?

Hi Steven - yep I've re-booted and no change.

I got the download from http://www.i-pv.com/downloads/HoudiniNC5_5_230.exe [i-pv.com]

I've got the latest XP service pack….I think.

Cracked it! I installed under c:\houdini WITHOUT the 5.5.230 and it worked.
