Been a while since i've used houdini, so bit rusty, but i have two issue that iwas hoping some you good natured ladies and gents could help with:
a) I can't seem to get textures to display in the viewport. This seems to only be for the scene attached.
b) I have some geo, created via cookie ops, nothing complicated. I applied a simple material using a jpg image. All renders fine until point of fracture at frame 48 at which point the texture screws up - i'm guessing this is a uv issue caused from passing the geo through dops but i'm struggling to resolve the issue.
Any help would great.

Un-checking ‘Display Geometry’ hides the selected RBD Object inside a DOP net, but the geo still renders at SOp level.
How do I hide a selected RBD Object from part of a DOP network at SOP level so that it doesn’t render with the rest of the sim, but still remains as active with the rest on the network?

Hi all,
Small problem with the springconstraint DOP. During the sim, the rbdobject appears to be interacting correctly with the ground plane, but on closer inspection, this isn’t the case and it’s impacting above the surface. No idea why.
Any help is appreciated.

Thought i'd attach the file.
Just trying to align the ground place to the 3 point within the sub net. First point is easy, just detach handles and snap. How to do points 2 and 3?
Would rather avoid, ‘do it by eye’!

One last question if any one is interested.
In 3DE I aligned 3 points on the ground to the xz plane of the global co-ordinate system, This worked fine and all geometry was created alight to newly transformed coordinate of the scene node.
After import to Houdini, this alignment appears to not have been transferred and subsequently the points are adrift in Houdini global system.
What’s the process to either a) export the alignment data to Houdini or b) align Houdini’s global system so its parallel to the xz plane of the 3 imported points?

Hi all,
Does anyone not the workflow for exporting camera data from 3DEv4 to Houdini?
3DE used to have a Houdini export filter but now its suspiciously disappeared - i guess i'm missing something here!

I have a project created on Houdini 10.0.430 on Ubuntu, but when i open it on Houdini 10.0.595 on Win 7, several points in the geo shift position.
The error appears to be within an edit sop.
Any idea why?

For some reason my materials will not show up on geometry in scene view. If i do a fast mantra the geo renders correctly with the shader visible, but not in ogl.
Any ideas?

I am having trouble with the shader sop - - i keep receiving a warning saying “this sop has been depreciated in favor of the material sop”.

I pinned the shader view, but as i switch between shops in the network view the shader view doesn't update or display both shaders on the same geo, it just maintain the original preview?

Hi all
Can anyone give me a review of Houdini performance using an ATI card under Linux (Ubuntu)?
I've been a long term nvidia user and had great results, but may have to change and am a little concerned.
Any thoughts? I knew linux drivers used to be a major issue and avoided running houdini on systems with ATI cards.

Running through the rigging lessons in the Magic of Houdini book and I'm having a few issues from using v10, when the book was written with v8.
Firstly, in the hand lesson, how do you add the spare channel required to clench the first? Add Spare Channel no longer exists. I know how to edit the available parameter but am unsure as to what I need to add.
Secondly, in the Dragonfly lesson, when you isolate the individual limbs by pulling in the entire geo via an object merge sop and then append a delete sop to remove the unwanted elements, the delete sop functionality appear to have changed. For example, the See one/see all switch is no longer present.
Can anyone shed some light on the appropriate steps required to complete the lessons?

How can you snap one point to the same Y value as another in orthographic? point snapping always you to snap two points to the exact xyz, but how can you snap to just one axis?

How can you find out the exact distance between two edges?
For example, if you took a simple box with three divisions and wanted to set the distance between the first to edges on the x axis to 1.0, the next two to 2.0 and the final two edges to 3.0.
Adjusting scale in the x axis moves the edges relative to the pivot, how do you move them relative to each other?
