Hi Guys,

That classic scene - comet with a trail of smoke and brimstone. Start with a sphere and then particles. Sphere with added transform node for direction, keyframed. How would one best set up a particle stream behind it as it travels from right to left across the screen?

Parenting? Assuming the sphere is the particle source.

Go easy in the explanation and dont assume too much, consider your reply.

Cheers

Hi probbins.

Check out Miguel's tutorial,

http://www.miguelperezsenent.com/tut_meteor.html [miguelperezsenent.com]

Ironically I was looking at this. BUT it seems proceedures have changed since v8. If you attempt these steps now some of the nodes added persist with errors ( the red centre ).

I sent a mail to Miguel to see if an update in proceedure was possible,

Cheers

The only thing that has changed is, I think, the way to render sprites and setting the deep shadows. Maybe I'm wrong, but now I can't remember more different steps… Anyway, I'll update the tutorial soon.
