How to blur a raytrace shadow?

Hi everybody. Stupid question, but didn't found solution of this trouble

How to blur a ray trace shadow? Or Do i need use separate shadow shader?

The trick is finding just the right hammer for every screw

And what the difference? same settings, blur shadow hided. But shadows something different

Use all the same settings but just switch the type to Area Light and then you will get blurred shadows. The bigger you make the area light the more blurred they get, but you might need more samples, all of which is controlled by the area light options tab.
The trick is finding just the right hammer for every screw
