Hi all,
Sorry for this noob question but I'm having a lot of trouble exporting an RBD sim as an FBX to maya.
So here's what I've tried:
1. selecting the geo node and going to the file>export>fbx options.
It did write a file but all it had in it was 2 locators.
2. dropping an ROP outputDriver into the geo node and writing out from there, I believe this is the normal way of exporting geo, but for the life of me I couldn't find any options there to export fbx!
I'm completely confused and any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Noob question

Hi,
Unfortunately I can't use the alembic export as I have the Indie version.
Managed to come up with a solution, used a Rop_geometry node plugged into the DOP_import node of the fractured geometry and wrote it out as a .bgeo file.
Then read this back in through a file node to export as a .fbx

The indie version supports alembic. I've tried, no problems.

Yes, I think all the features in indie is available, just the render resolution is different, right ?

Hey guys.
I am trying to export to Alembic, but the ROP errors out with:
Alembic export is only supported in Houdini and Houdini FX versions.
I have just installed a new Indie license and restarted my workstation, yet I still can't render to alembic.
Do I have to re-install my Houdini to make sure the license is activated?
Because I would prefer not to.
Thanks!
NEVERMIND!
I was still using my Apprentice verison instead the Indie.
I thought the difference between Apprentice and Indie was purely on which license you were running.
My mistake!

Instead of making the title “NOOB QUESTION”, maybe more people would be in a posistion to know if they could help based on the title alone.
That's kinda what titles are for!
So next time, try to explain your problem with few words in the title, not like “NOT WORKING” or “I AM AWESOME”.
Edited to be more user friendly.
