Dear SESI,

I am trying to install `houdini-18.0.565-linux_x86_64_gcc6.3`. After a recent update, it looks like I can't start houdini any more - I am stuck in “connecting to license server” -> “install Apprentice” -> “Run” -> “connecting to license server” loop. It looks like the (apprentice) licences get installed, but can't be served for some reason. I tried the regular re-install, cleanup installation files, created a new user, tried earlier builds, etc. The `/log/sesi/sesinetd.log` show a lot of these:

It looks like the logs say that there are licences available, that they fail to get served…

The Diagnostic information also mentions:
“Server ip address: (could not look up server)”
and
“=== The IP mask doesn't match this machine ===”

I also noticed that “local ip address” is set to 0.0.0.0 when I install and launch houdini for the first time, but every time I restart sesinetd, the “Reported host ip address” keeps changing and I see the “IP mask doesn't match” error in the diagnostic information. Are theses related?

Local ip address: 0.0.0.0
License server name: nu (nu)
License server server code: 27046428
License server server code error:
Server ip address: (could not look up server)
Reported host name: nu
Reported host ip address: 15.0.0.0

Any idea how I can fix that?
Thanks!

Thanks to Sidefx support, the solution turns out to be simply:

/etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 nu localhost

(I did not have `nu` mapped to 127.0.0.1) No idea why it worked before and stopped working after an update…

Cheers,
Vlad
