I know that the subject line speaks “duh look at the…” but this is not the case. I have a model car that has been made in 3ds max and I've imported it into houdini in obj format to export into torque (yeah I know, another torue question). Torque requires the wheels of the car to be a separate dts and the rest of the car another dts (funny thing). How can I remove the wheels from the camaro without injuring the body of the car (if you've guest it, I tried blasting the wheel and save that as a file, and blasting the body of the car and save that as a file - it's a nub thing sorry)

The image of the car is posted below.

Select your wheel and then use the Extract shelf tool (I think it's on the Modify shelf?). Turning on “select connected geometry” can also help with the picking.

Ah, I forgot, you might also need to then delete the geometry that you extracted from the original object.

Is there a way that you can disable selecting back vertices? For instance, you select the wheel and it turns a particular color (letting you know that you've selected it), but it also selects everything behind it.

try using the “0” key
this will put you in “Select Connected Geometry” mode…

wow! (lol, you guru are like, “this dud has no clue what power Houdini has!) The ”0“ key really does the trick, I knock two wheels in less than 15 minutes. The first wheel took me about 20 minutes because I was selecting and deleting (”delete key"). Thanks a lot!

I will post an image when I'm done!
