Hey all,
Found that using the scene import node doesn't work with Arnold(lights/shaders). Is this something that will be fixed in future?

scene import should be last option. you should start to build your houdini scene complety in LOPs.
you can use standard lops light, which works with arnold.
still i found the Lops lights in arnold behave much different then “regular” arnold lights.

Scene import only works with houdini native lights. But you can use the imported houdini lights with any render delegate.

Will check that out thanks, Do you guys see yourself including Arnold lights and shaders? We have existing assets that would be great to transfer without rebuilding them.

currently, we using it only USD layout. for lighting and rendering, too many tools missing. for now, we stick with the “legacy” tools for rendering.

The state of importing Arnold-specific lights/cameras from /obj into USD with the Scene Import LOP is the same as for RenderMan-specific node import:
