Threadripper 3995wx
Titan RTX
2080 Ti RTX

beautiful thing to see all threads on all devices maxed out

I'm pretty curious about CPU rendering results on threadripper 3995/3990. Can you share, please?

sure KARMA CPU: 02:52

The dices have dropped...even at this early point I know now that I`ll be dedicating 2022 to Houdini/Karma XPU, the render times on my machine and the interactivity are insane! I`m finally leaving C4D for good...
Yader
Ryzen 5950X
2x RTX 3090

XPU: 52sec
jarenas
3970X
3060RTX

XPU: 2:38
CPU: 11:50

But I'm finding rendering differences betweem both engines...

yeah there are, but this is already stated and xpu ist alpha stage

Would be interesting to compare Karma CPU vs Mantra CPU.
nisachar
Any plans to support the Apple silicon CPU/GPUs?

Test Results :
XPU = 1:13
CPU = 25.16 (@3.19 GHZ)

Intel i9 7980XE
Nvidia Titan RTX

Thanks everyone for sharing your results, looks like multi-GPU support works great, I am in awe at SideFX R&D, yet again!
vink
AMD TR 1950x
RTX 2070 Super
GTX 1070 Ti

XPU: 2:38

Thanks for the comparisons. Will give it a try.

I wonder how Karma CPU vs Mantra performs. Might try to test and write my result here.

I know it would be unfair, obviously. But, just out of interesst...

Has anybody of you the possibility to compare the current state of karma xpu to redshift or its competitors, speed wise?
vink
I prepare similar scene in RS, not 1:1 copy but for redshift. Uses same Rhino Geo.
on my 2070 Super + 1070 Ti I have 31 sec.

Not that bad at all!
Thx

I found it on the net and kind of matched it up.

Render times in my case :

XPU: 1M 25S

What are your pc specs? My 3090 is at a 1:58s... just trying to make sure Im getting most out of my machine as I don't have the quickest cpu, worried about a bottleneck - Ryzen 7 3800XT
joelnberg
Tested this against my Redshift workflow, just trying to match up everything and not optimize. Maximum samples in RS 512 with Brute force primary GI and no secondary.
RTX 3090, Ryzen 7 3800xt
Redshift 0:22s
XPU 1:58s

Did anybody do a pyro test with XPU?

In the Houdini 19 HIVE presentation Adam Swaab shows how to render pyro with XPU which is by using the new pyropreview material but I can't make it work.

Any ideas?

You need to convert all Houdini volumes (Density and Scatter at least) to VDBs with Convert VDB node.
