Hello
For a simplicity, I have a simple object (lets say a cube).
In SOP, added a skeleton, bonecapturelines, tetmbed, bonecapturebiharmonic, RigPose, bonedeform.
I have animated the RigPose - eg. rotating
How can I export the cube geometry and the animation into two separate USD files?
And later how can I import them in Solaris, and bind the animation to the geo.
thx.

Have you tried using the
SOP Character Import LOP [
www.sidefx.com] ? I believe it has all the options for this.

Hello
"Have you tried using the SOP Character Import LOP ? I believe it has all the options for this."
My first problem was to save the animations into separate USD files.
SOP Character import works from the SOP not from USD files.
btw
I have found a solution. Not sure the best, but its working.
See the attached files, where I create a cube, bones, animated rigs. Export them into separate usd, and load back.

In order to save to USD files, it's best if first convert into USD. The SOP Character Import LOP has lots of options for how to do that. After you have it imported into LOPs, then it's easier to output to USD.

Hello Edward
Sorry for the late answer
and thank you vey much for forcing SOP Character Import because it generates much simpler Scene graph tree and I can export usd.
And I do not need the agent stuff in SOP level
I think I found a bug (or just did not find the correct solution)
In the SOP Character Import there is a possibility to set the Animation Save Path and Geometry Save Path.
While the Geometry is working perfect, the Animation does nothing (and sadly has the total same hint as the geo).
I report it and they will tell me the truth
btw, with a secondary SopCharacterImport I can fix it
In this node I do NOT import the rest geo data only the animation (untick the checkbox), and in the USD_ROP save it into a different usd file.
