Desktop Manager window

Overview

The Desktop Manager window lets you add and modify desktops.

To access this window, choose Desktops Manager from the Desktop menu.

File

Add New Desktop

Creates a new desktop.

Save Modified Desktops

Saves any desktops you've edited since the last save.

Apply Changes

Applies any changes you've made to the settings in the window to the actual desktops.

Discard Changes

Discards any changes you've made to the settings in the window.

Options

Show Hidden Files

When you hide desktops, they disappear from the Desktop menu and Desktop Manager. Turn on this option to display the hidden files.

Show All Files

If Houdini’s default desktop files are overridden by files of the same name in the $HOME/houdiniX.Y directory, then only the files in use are displayed while the default ones are hidden. Turn on this option to display all the files, even if they aren’t in use.

Auto-Save Desktops

Automatically saves changes you make to desktops to the relevant desktop files.

Dropdown menu

This menu lets you save, load, revert, duplicate, hide, or delete the desktop.

Name

The name of the desktop as it appears in the Desktop menu.

No Save Flag

When this flag is on, you can’t save changes to the desktop.

Hide Flag

When this flag is on, the desktop doesn’t appear in the search path.

Info

Displays noteworthy information about the desktop and its contents.

Location

Controls which directory the desktop is stored in. Desktops under $HFS load for all users of this copy of Houdini. Desktops under $HOME load only for you. Desktops under $HIP load only for the current scene.
