Hi there,
I'd like to be able to quickly bake transforms from other nodes into a Rig Pose node.
Is there a way to do this through python scripting or something?
I basically want to do what's here in the Bake options (Bake From), but assign it to one button so the animator doesn't have to manually go through the options each time.
You could use it form something like this, just bake the mirror into the current rig node.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Pete

Hi all,
Just wondering if there's a way to apply an impulse force to a vellum sim from the v point attribute from another set of points?
So I have this sim,
And I want to push the points out based on this 'v' attribute
Is that possible?
Thanks,
Pete

Hi all,
I'm having a bit of trouble running a 123.py or 456.py in Houdini. I've looked through the manual here - Python script locations [www.sidefx.com] but can't seem to get it working. Here's what I have -
I created the files in pycharm with this one line -
I've put the files in ".../Library/Preferences/houdini/19.5/scripts/", which I think is the $HOUDINI_PATH?
I'm not seeing anything in the python shell on starting Houdini or loading a new scene.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Pete

Hi all!
Just trying to figure out how to set up this IK Solver VOP node https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/nodes/vop/kinefx--solveik.html [www.sidefx.com]
Does anyone have an example file with this working? I attached my lame attempt.
Thanks,
Pete

Thanks, I'm not using solvers but I'll try and keep an eye out and see if I can pin something down.
It's a shame it's been around so long. Houdini is already tricky to get your head around but randomly showing you the wrong thing adds a little extra challenge :o

Hi all,
I often find that the Houdini viewport is not correctly displaying the result that it should be. Pressing the labs "reset viewport" fixes the issue but it happens pretty frequently, I'm probably resetting the view every ten or so minutes and it's a little frustrating.
I'm on Houdini 19.5 using macOS Monterey but this has been ongoing for a while for me.
I haven't found a good way to repro the problem. Just wondering if anyone else runs into this?
Thanks,
Pete

Hi all,
Finally got to use the new curve tool and it's great!
Just wondering is there a way to keep the new corner radius from baking down when you add another curve node later to edit things?
Also, is there a way to set the corner radius via attribute?
Thanks,
Pete

Hi all,
This is super handy but I can't seem to get the files to go into a sub folder based on the scene name.
The docs give this as an example -
$BASENAME/$BASENAME_auto$N
But I keep getting this error -
What am I doing wrong there?
Thanks
Pete

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Getting Colours to match between Unity and Houdini.

Hi all,
Just wondering if someone can help me figure this out.
I just can't get my colours to match between Houdini and Unity.
Here's an unlit test in both apps, the Unity one seems a little washed out.
Here's another example -
I'm on Houdini 18.5.450, Unity 2020.2, macOS 11.2.1
Any ideas what might be causing that? Is there something being applied to the Houdini viewport? If so can I also apply that in Unity or remove it from Houdini?
Thanks,
Pete

Hey that’s strange I just gave it a try on 18.5.429 and it works okay for me. It doesn’t work so well in the little pop up parameter window though (the one you can get in a network view by pressing p).

Hey thanks!
I was trying to get each individual node to cook in sequence rather than each task, but I hadn't figured out the scheduler stuff so I just gave each node a custom priority expression of 1,2,3 and they seem to go in order
Thanks!

Hi all!
I have this super handy file that exports a bunch of fbx's to Unity.
Is there a way to set them all off at once but have each node (1,2,3) wait for the last node to fully complete before generating?
They can't be in the one stream as they each of them has to get the source files from the top node.
Any ideas? I'm sure there'd be a way to do this but I'm stumped.
Thanks!
Pete
