take the input surface your using for the tetrahedralize SOP peak it in a little bit, pop that into a VDB with fill interior flipped on

pop down a group node with the VDB as the secondary input and group everything that isn't contained the VDB.

Hi,

sorry I'm relative new to Houdini. So I neither understand the question nor the answer. I tried it by myself. So my questions is also with an FEM solid object is it possible to just select the outside points. Do I miss or missunderstood something?
Thanks in advance for any explanation.

Cheers

Can you post a file? At what point in the network do you need external points? You could create a point group before the object gets tetrahedralized and this group will still be there after the simulation.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
