Double precision calculations in Houdini

Hi, Could you please advise how important for simulations and rendering is double precision performance of graphics card? I would like to know if it makes sense to buy professional graphics card that has better double precision performance than the card for gamers.

For GPU simulation isn't too much that uses 64bit, it accumulates a buffer(?) there to avoid rounding errors.
The inbuilt Mantra rendering doesn't use GPU, and openGL ROP, or 3rd party renderers Octane, Redshift use 32 bits afaik.
TL,DR; Gaming cards are better value, the trade off is a more flakey driver.
