Hi,
Ihave this serius problem.
After going dualcore (previous config. p4 3.6ghz, 7600gt, 2gb ram) with a pentium d, i started to have problems in houdini.
The file opens ok, and all of the objects are present, but as soona s i move, rotate or zoom i loose an object!
Could this be cpu related?
I reinstalled windows, put forceware 93.7 drivers, same thing.
Also now, when i try to render in the viewport houdini freezes.

Is there a setting that i should check in oreder for houdini to work with dualcore cpus?

Sounds like a clipping plane problem. Hit ‘d’ in the viewport, go to the Optimization tab, and turn off Automatically Adjust Near/Far, thens set the Near to .0001 or so. If your object re-appears, that was it Otherwise, sorry, no idea.

Cheers,

I've seen this when you have a big scene and the graphics card can't handle it. Or just with the wrong drivers.

Do you get it with a default scene or just your own file?
The trick is finding just the right hammer for every screw

Found the problem!
It came out that on a few objects, more than one shader was added.
That gave houdini a big headache, cooking the same objects over and over again.
Combine that with 60+ shaders and you get the viewport problem and sometimes the message “memory allocation error”.

No the default scene and other files are ok.

Thanks for the support!
