Best practice when dealing with CAD files? Importing FBX

Hi,

I am having hard times dealing with CAD file exported from MOI as FBX to be usable inside Houdini.

This isn't even complex model I am trying to deal with here. It has only 800 parts and about 50 materials. Parts comes into Houdini just fine ether directly under OBJ or under subnetwork. Materials goes to under MAT or matnetwork inside subnetwork.

I need to get materials to work with Karma so I have to get them over LOPS, but then I need to reassign those in there.


Am I missing some obvious workflow here or how should I deal with this?

I did a quick test with an fbx
and bring it to stage with a sceneimport node
- it imports the materials automatically
