The problem with RFE is that a huge number of genuinely important improvements go ignored for many years.
Personally, I only submit RFE for bugs and don't want to waste my time on feature improvement requests because there's little point in doing so.

CYTEThe issue has been resolved. That was a problem with new Python in H20.5
Can you create a soft boolean node in SOP context?
Cheers

So I have to say that I have never used Modeler. In fact I absolutely never liked modeling in Houdini.
Got softbools and modeler 2025 earlier today.
I’m starting to love modeling in Houdini!
Also the support on Discord has already been amazing.
Thanks Alexey!
Modeling in Houdini is awesome. Unlike other programs, in addition to interactive viewport capabilities, you have full control in the node editor. The ability to use different streams of geometric data during direct modeling is not available in any other DCC software.

I also don't understand the complaints about the Modeler 2025 UI. It doesn’t have any interface elements like Modeler 2023. Only icons and context menu. There’s the Houdini interface: shelves, radial menus, and hotkeys. All of this allows you to either use the default settings or customize the environment to suit your needs.

Listen, stop talking nonsense and acting smart. Let's get to the point—what bugs are there?
The touted Manipulator tool disappointed me massively. It didn't work even after downloading changes on Gumroad. Extruding and then minimizing extruded faces only selects outside ring leaving the inside polys fixed- weird and unusable. What?!
You don't really want me to list my observations here, Alexy. However, I am literally NOT here to disparage what I believe is the best part of Modeler... the interface interactivity. Lots of crap bugs and odd youtube marketing videos aside that really don't help anyone- focus on seamless artistic engagement with that brilliant interfacing.
I think Modeler is best for artists when the artist presses q or shortcut and that beautiful menu you created appears and does EXACTLY what the artist expects. Plus, tiny indies who pay the Houdini indie costs aren't the massive studio bros making all the crap you see in theaters and on netflix- we are working in the shadows for the next million dollar idea and we have budgets made of bologna sandwiches. Peace. No disrespect meant by me if you sensed any.
1. The Manipulator tool works as intended. Moreover, it is regularly tested by one of my clients. What specific issues are you experiencing with this tool?
2. There have never been any problems with the Extrude tool. Honestly, I don't quite understand what your issue is.
3. Since the release, there has been ongoing discussion in Discord, and if people encounter any problems, they are resolved immediately. At the same time, no one has had a negative experience using the plugin; on the contrary, everyone is extremely satisfied—both old and new clients alike. I recommend joining the Discord to discuss any issues.

This looks great!! Is it possible to get a demo license? Would be interested in buying the studio license, but would like to test it first.

In the first two days after release, 100 people updated, and not a single negative review. Why would they even need such a bad plugin?

Not quite. It's buggy and the UI/UX needs a lot of work.
What bugs? I’ve been polishing my product day and night, so don’t start telling me about bugs. What specific bugs? Join our chat, and you’ll hear all about the bugs, convenience, and interface. This is complete nonsense, bordering on hate speech. Only someone who hasn’t tried my $5000 plugin could write something like that.

bobc4dThis version requires at least Houdini 20.5
will it work with Houdini 20.0 or will it require 20.5?

I am excited to present the latest version of my modeling addon for Houdini. The core and tools have been practically rewritten from scratch, with the main focus on moving away from a separate, foreign UI and fully utilizing Houdini’s native features for tool interaction. Modeler now operates based on Houdini's radial menus, hotkeys, and shelf tools.

RGaalNo, that's not quite right. VEX is used in almost every HDA, including for creating geometry. For example, the Connect tool, which connects components with new edges, uses VEX to create new polygons. The Edge Flow tool interpolates point positions using the Bezier method and consists of just one VEX node. And so on...
The modeler is just a set of convenient things around nodes that greatly facilitate interaction.
As for the Bevel operation, it can also be implemented with VEX, but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

eikonoklastesNot quite agree. Here's an example https://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/97567 [www.sidefx.com] Can you explain why this topic was closed?
Do you honestly believe this to be valuable, constructive discussion? Or is it just passive-aggressive negativity with no real purpose other than to air your frustration, which is a remarkable thing to be doing on a professional public forum.
This is a case where repeated RFEs don't help, and discussion is needed, which is what the forum is supposed to be for.

eikonoklastesThey don't necessarily need to write about it. The thing is, constructive criticism of Houdini is not encouraged on this forum. As soon as discussions about the program's bugs and ways to improve it begin, the threads are closed with constant reminders to submit RFE. This way, users can't openly discuss these issues. This behavior has permeated the forum over the last few years.alexwheezyWhere exactly in that post does it say that this forum isn't a venue for users to express their opinions?eikonoklastesraincoleThis is news to me. When and where did they say this?
But SideFX has already made it clear that this forum isn't a venue for the users to express their opinions

raincoleEverything has already been said.alexeyvanzhula1984LukePYes, I wouldn’t want to write this in this thread, but I saw responses from developers here, so I couldn’t hold back. When I create threads about issues, I generally don’t get any responses. Maybe I touch on uncomfortable topics, or maybe they just find me unpleasant—who knows.
On the other side - this thread was really about Solaris instability that I have been experiencing.
Keep talking about them. SideFX is very responsive. You'll get a response eventually (which is usually a closed thread, but if you're lucky you might get a forum ban!)
