ddh123The problem isn't that, but that sometimes Houdini starts glitching, causing the viewport camera to rotate while you're holding the spacebar.
If you enter the orthogonal view, press O to restore the perspective view

Can confirm that. I also encountered such a glitch in Houdini 20.5 once. I remember about 5 years ago, this error appeared in Houdini as well, but it was fixed in the newer versions.

LukePI have sent bug reports with links to these videos.alexeyvanzhula1984
Out of habit, I call them RFEs, but I actually mean bug reports
I’ve noticed you posted a few videos on youtube with the problems in Houdini 20.5. Maybe have a thread here with links to those videos and reference to bug reports. I’m assuming that SideFX product / leadership team is watching these threads. Those types of things don’t always trickle up and I agree they are show stoppers in some cases. Ultimately no matter what great features there are in the software, if it’s not stable - no one will use it.

LukePThis is broken hotkey functionality that used to work fine. How can one use a program if even the hotkeys don't work properly?
Should this be RFE or Defect?

Houdini 20.5 is in the Beta stage, and we are all beta testers. Now I'm not upset that I wasn't given the opportunity to be a beta tester.

Houdini 20.5.300. Default settings without any hotkeys and addons. I assign a key to any shelf tool. The hotkey works. If I switch to another keymap and then switch back to the one where the binding was created, the hotkey cannot be found because it is saved without a label and description, as evidenced by analyzing the file Houdini.keymap2.overrides:
Additionally, unlike in Houdini 20, it is now impossible to add default hotkey symbols for tools in any way. For example, h.pane.gview.tool:my_shelf_tool could be created in Houdini 20 by adding them to the config/Hotkeys folder in your package. As a result, the hotkey symbol with a description and label was available for any keymap and could be easily found in the hotkey editor. In Houdini 20.5, this is not possible.
I've already submitted an RFE. However, I'd like to discuss this topic further.

LukePMany bugs in Houdini 20 that I reported by sending RFEs are still not fixed. But they love closing threads. So, I'll say it loudly once more: Houdini's stability decreases with each release.
find SideFX support pretty awesome.

LukePwhen h20.5 will be more stablealexeyvanzhula1984RGaalin the upcoming modeler edge flow was rewriten from scratch. now it is multithreaded and works much better.
By the way, I use edgeflow from the modeler and there is another free one on orbolt. In principle, they work fine. Of course, it's a pity that they are not in the original instruments.
when is the new modeler coming????

The LOP icons are more informative and have a different style from the older SOP icons. However, having many colors in the icons makes it harder to identify the tool quickly.

Look at the icons for tools like TopoBuild, PolyDraw, and EdgeLoop. Do their contents convey the essence?

I am disappointed with the Vulkan viewport. On my simple laptop, the new sculpting is twice as fast using OpenGL instead of Vulkan
