Hi!
So yesterday i donwloaded the houdini-15.0.347-win64-vc11 build.
But im running into install errors.
Im getting the following errors:
1. the installer cant get the installers path.
So i moved the file from the desktop to another location.
Problem solved. But here comes another error, where the installer complains about my system, it's can't decide if it's 64 or 32 bit (im running on win 7 64 bit).
So i downloaded another build (houdini-15.0.385-win64-vc11), same problem here.
Interesting that these installers dont have the SideFx/Houdini logo.
So i downloaded the houdini-14.0.598-win64-vc11 build. No problem here.
So how can i fix the H15 installer?

Hi.
I fractured an object with voronoi, and grouped the pieces to a new group.
I tried to plug the fractured group in to a for each.
There is an animated sphere in the for each to cut away parts from the fractured pieces.
I want to run SDF or WDB operations on every piece in the group, so at the end i can get back every piece.
How can i run the operations in every piece? I tried to feed in the pieces in the for each mask. But i cant get it to work.
Which is the better approache for thist type of work? SDF or WDB? Im getting strange ressults and artifacts in both, and I dont know how to tweak them.

In VOPSOP the add attrib node has a “Local Variable Name” option.
So its missing in AttributVOP.
I added a AttribCreate before the AttribVOP and created the attribute and the Variable .
Is there a way where i can remap my variables inside the AttributeVOP? Or I need to always create the attribute before the AttributeVOP ifI want mapped variables?.

After a long break I started to play around in houdini again.
I found an older file and I cant rebuild the same thing.
The problem is that the older file had VOPSOP in it and VOPSOP is replaced with AttributeVOPs in H14.
So in VOPSOP if i take ptnum and multiply it, its easy to write out its product as a new attribute.
But if a try to do the same thing in AttributeVop I cant make it because ptnum holds only one number. So after I read the help I tried to Bind the ptnum attributes and add, set them to a new attribute.
Here comes my question. How can i use the newly created attribute? I want to manipulate it further (just multiplying with 2 in this example) and create the final attribute.

in scene view down below the flipbook icon if i right click on the output icon and i choose the View:Mantra option im getting this error:

Ok. I downloaded the tutorial files and if i import the assets i can render out this scene. but if i want to build something from a new file and try to render nothing happens.

basic scene with 1 grid and 1 sphere. clay material applied to the sphere. 1 light and 1 camera and mantra node thats all.

Hello.
I started learning Houdini not too long ago. Watched a lot of tutorials, but newer tried the rendering.
So i watched the basic lightning and rendering tutorial from the learning section.
My problem is that MPlayer not popping up if i hit render.
My scene is just a simple grid with a sphere with basic lights (point & env), basic material clay.
I tryed the mantra and mantra - PBR nodes, but nothing happens. MPlayer is not popping up automaticaly, after manual launch and forcing it to listen the renderer, i cant get a render.
Flipbook is working fine. So i checked every options in the mantra node , every tooltips and i readed the mantra online help. Still cant get a simple render.
Ok. I watched a few video tutorials from youtube and vimeo.
If i try to render my camera gives back an error:
Error saving geometry for : \obj\grid_object1\grid1
and after trying to render the camera always jumps back to 0,0,0 and clears rotation.
I tried to render out other scenes from the net, but no render
Tried the render view, only black vew. cant see anything.
oooook.
Reinstalled houdini and the whole OS. Still no render.
houdini version : houdini-12.5.615-win64-vc9
VGA driver: NVidia 331.82
I hope someone can halp me to solve this irritating problem.

i have 2 installed
houdini-12.5.615-win64-vc9 & houdini-13.0.260-win64-vc9
but they cant run in the same time, because the old license servers. If i try to launch both, H13 wont launch and asks for licens server upgrade . i want to run h13 & 12 at the same time and try step by step follow the tutorials. I know , i know its stupid but i want to see (or experience?) the new and old particle system in the same time.

Hello!
Im a totally beginner with Houdini so a downloaded Apprentice.
After the first steps i encountered with a little problem that i cant solve.
I created a Grid and apllied a particle system(Source Particles from Geo) to the selected polygons/primitives in SOP level.
My problem is that my Popnet values are all blank. If i manually change a value like Start time or random seed i cant see the proper value its just giving back the “- - - ” value.
If i try to change the values with the sliders i get the same result. Particle behavios are changing if i change values, but i cant read the real values because i geting back only “- - - ” int the value boxes.
I get this problem with the houdini-13.0.260-win64-vc9 version, so i downloaded an older version, but same problem with houdini-12.5.615-win64-vc9
Can somebody help me to solve this problem?
