Hi,
I have a reasonably large and heavy piece of animated geometry which I would like to generate a point cloud for, using the SSS Scatter SOP.
Is there an easy way to generate these point clouds based only on surfaces within the camera frustum and a set distance away from the camera?
As the geometry is quite large, only certain areas are required for the point cloud per frame and it is taking a significant amount of time to render just the point clouds.
Thanks for any tips/suggestions.
Sam.

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I checked for the console, but it is generally automatically launched when there are print's/warnings, and it is not being launched when I lay down a print node in a VOP SHOP network and enable “output text to console”. I assume this must be an issue with the build of Houdini I am using so I will try a more recent version.
Is there a manual way to launch the console from within Houdini? It doesn't seem to appear within the windows menu on the toolbar and I am running Houdini on a windows machine.
Cheers!

Hi,
I generally use the print VOP to read the output value of a node within a VOP network, however this does not seem to work for VOP SHOPs. Is there another way I can output the value of a node within a VOP SHOP? I can export the attribute but this doesn't help me actually view the value.
Thanks for any assistance!
