Unfortunately there is no way to obfuscate Python code

I said long ago that it is necessary to hide some tabs from TP in protected assets, for example code-tab.

What about this?
My asset use Alembic ROP that does not available with apprentice license.
At now there is one price for commercial and other for apprentice.
Can i have asset that have price for commercial use, but no for apprentice, because there is no available functionality in apprentice?

I don't agree. My asset has to keep in itself only couple of variables. And i think there is no need to save files on a disk and then to be confused. It is simpler to keep everything in hda-section, I think so.
But I think that you would have problems whenever the asset got updated
I not completely understood what you meant. Can you explain? What update? I simply want to save, for example, file path to external application in hda-section. Why I need to save separate files for this purpose?

As for the second suggestion, can you please tell me more?
Why would it be fair to charge one user more than another?
Is this for giving discounts to friends/loyal customers?

I mean that some users(maybe friends) may use asset for free, but the others - for money.

You should be able to edit your original asset as you want, and update it (re-upload) at any time. The version that the customer downloads will get locked (if you choose to lock it) and your new changes will be respected.

In short, you shouldn't have any problem. If you like, feel free to send your file to support and we'll take a closer look.

You again not correctly understood me, or I not correctly explained

My asset need to change itself in runtime (not in next asset version)
For example, if user change some parm, then asset want to change some section in itself -> simple example - to save some variables in hda-sections.
Is it possible. Thx.

1. I think if asset is protected it need in TypeProperties hide contents of tabs:
a. Parameters
b. Scripts
c. Extra Files
Or simply dont allow open TypeProperties window for protected asset.
I think, SideFX should think of it. Its good for total privacy.

2. Also it would be good to allow free\paid state of asset per user:
a. SomeUser1 - Free
b. SomeUser2 - Pay

How do you think?

No i mean - My asset has advanced functionality and need to change its definition by itself. For example, sometimes it need to add some files to his definition sections (not file-nodes, but files in definition) or change some text in script sections. At now, locked not compiled version of asset works good in this situation. What about compiled-protected version?

Hi all.
I try to script houdini behaviour with python in Maya. I use houxmlrpc.
So all works from maya like in houdini python, but…
This code work in houdini python shell:
hObj = hou.node('/obj').createNode('geo', ‘mayaGeometry’)
hObj.moveToGoodPosition()
hObj.node('file1').destroy()
hImportFromMaya = hObj.createNode('file','importFromMaya')
hExportToMaya= hObj.createNode('file','exportToMaya')
hExportToMaya.setFirstInput(hImportFromMaya)
But it does not work in Maya. On last line
hExportToMaya.setFirstInput(hImportFromMaya)
I get the error:
# Error: TypeError: cannot marshal recursive dictionaries #

I want to understand why so…
