Houdini Linux Wayland Support? 2026年6月7日20:19
I had to downgrade my Linux distro from Rocky 10.1 to Rocky 9.8 to better support Renderman 27.3, best move I could make, it is so much more stable in the Hydra, UI, ML Interactive Denoiser.
Rocky Linux 9.8 - X11
KDE
Nvidia 610.43.02 ---Yes you can use latest drivers, no pauses
Houdini 21.0.729
Renderman 27.3 Daily Build
I have never been more stable with Solaris. I can only speak for myself, but I will not be going to any OS that is not part of the VFX Platform or "What the DCCs tell us they support..." lesson learned :-)

PR_RenderMan for Houdini 21.0.671 2026年4月20日9:40
Hey Lesouf,
My name is Todd Manus, I don't have a Mac, but I'll see if I can help. With Linux and Windows 11, you can simple copy of a JSON file over from where Renderman got installed, to a folder called packages that is usually in your "houdini21.0" home folder
See the packages installation section here: https://rmanwiki-27.pixar.com/space/RFH27/544640398/Installation+of+RenderMan+for+Houdini [rmanwiki-27.pixar.com]
If you have question, I can try and help. You can reach me on Pixar's Renderman Discord server.
BTW, I have never seen the Renderman plugin in the Labs/Packages section ever, so I don't think you have to worry to much about the fact that it doesn't show up there.

Houdini with Linux and Wayland 2026年3月27日0:47
tommygdawgI had to go back to 580.126.20... the newest 595.58.03 is a no go :-(.. UI freezes up too much.
Well I'll be a son of a gun! Can confirms that works on CachyOS, too! For anyone wondering how to do it, on Cachy I simply added the line to the following file using sudo nano:
/etc/environment
Now, if anyone can figure out how to make Houdini play nice with Nvidia drivers after 580, that'd be the last missing link for me. I managed to track down that it's an XID error 69 that happens when the UI freezes, but I haven't been able to figure out what to do with that information LOL.
