Fatal Error : Segmentation Fault in Houdini 12.1 2012年12月4日4:23

Hi all,

My problem

Fatal error : segmentation fault

file saved to directory

I have been looking around to fix this problem. Some things that I tried:

1. changed the 3D viewport to GL 2
2. add the HOUDINI_OGL_SOFTWARE with var of 1 to the env system
3. deleted all .pref files in $HOME/Houdini12.1

unfortunately none of the above could fix my error.

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E502660 0 @ 2.20 Ghz 2.20 Ghz
32 GB
64 bit
Windows 7 Professional

The thing is, it only occurs for this particular file that I have which includes: particles, smokes, fireball pyro, and RBD simulation. Maybe some of these has effect on it?

However, I tried to run the same one from OSX and it does not have any problem with it and it could work just fine. It occurs when I tried to work from Windows.

Anyone have any solutions in mind? I have looked through most of the posts about it but maybe I missed something?

any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

pyro fx movement 2012年11月23日7:35

Hi, I am also trying to make this work

I have my sphere run through a wall (so the sphere has rds solver) and I put velocity in it for it to go through the wall.

I have put and applied all those thing in my scene however it does not move, the animation of the pyro is only stay in one place which is the start point of the sphere.

I noticed that the tracking gets the reference to the sphere file that of course it does not move anywhere because I put the velocity not a starting path or so, so the sphere move when the rbd solver kicks in.

so now I have been trying and do not really know which of the sphere that I should put the reference then? because I put before rbd solver, it doesn't work (yes because it doesn't move yet by then)

so any help?

thank you

Emit Debris from dynamically fractured objects 2012年9月29日4:28

Hello all,

I am quite new with Houdini, just started in the beginning of this month. I enjoy Houdini very much, however, I encounter a problem here and have been here for quite some time.

So what I want to do it basically make a scene of a ball crashing a wall and then have debris coming out of the wall as the effect of the crashing and the wall being torn down. Well basically want to get this [http] to the next level.

However, I have been looking for a way to do this and found somethings but maybe because I still need to learn more about Houdini, I do not really get how to do this properly.

So I thought I can start from a simpler scene first.

Firstly I read a post [here [http] and have tried to do it step by step and even try to mimic the scene exactly but I still have no luck. I use Houdini 12 so I grabbed the torus_debris_h12_fix.hip file.

I did everything as exactly as how it is in the file, but as from what I check, I see that the “delete” from the particle_location1 does not work properly (If what I see is correct). Although I see this problem, I have no idea how to fix it since I think all is correct  I attached my file here.

can anyone help me on this? and maybe if you know a tutorial that can be helpful for me to get the hang of this?

Thanks in advance
