The options in this window control the hotkeys assigned to actions. See Configuring hotkeys for more information.

Open the hotkey editor

In the main menus, choose Edit ▸ Hotkeys.

Find the hotkey entry for an item in the interface

  • ⌃ Ctrl + Alt + ⇧ Shift + click an item in the interface (for example, a toolbar button or menu item) to open it in the hotkey editor.

    or

  • Type words associated with the action in the hotkey editor’s filter box. This only works when the Filter Settings button is set to Text.

Find the actions assigned to a key

  • Click the key on the virtual keyboard at the bottom of the window.

    or

  • Type the key text (for example, Shift+L) in the hotkey editor’s filter box. Click the Filter Settings button to choose to filter with either a Text string (default) or a Key or key sequence.

    Note

    For Key or key sequence, toggle the red dot and white square to switch between the two modes. Use the dropdown menu to add special keys in your search.

Assign a hotkey to an action

  1. Find the action in the hotkey editor.

  2. In the right pane, double-click the add mapping line in the list of hotkeys.

  3. Type the hotkey you want to assign (or click the key on the virtual keyboard at the bottom of the window). Toggle the red dot and white square to choose whether to enter a key or key sequence. Use the dropdown menu to add special keys.

Assign a hotkey that references a hotkey for another action

  1. Find the action for which you want to assign a hotkey in the hotkey editor.

  2. In the right pane, click Add Ref in the list of hotkeys.

  3. In the Choose Reference Command window, select the context’s action you want the hotkey to reference.

Remove a hotkey from an action

  1. Find the action in the hotkey editor.

  2. In the right pane, click the Remove button next to the hotkey.
