hi all!

i`m trying to do an animation that is timed to the bpm of music.. i dont want to automate it or anything, i just want to know if theres a way of getting audiointo houdini as a template that will play alongside my animation, or so that i can see the waveform and apply keyframes to my objects on cue..

ie..

i look along the waveform, pick out where the bass drum hit is, go back to my object, and key it where i want it?

or something along those lines?

cheers all

Mark.

Yes, you can load in a supported Audio file in a File CHOP (.wav, .aiff, .au…) enable the Bluish Green Audio Flag.

Under the Menu Bar select: Windows>Audio Panel
Select “Time Line” Sometimes the panel is a bit touchy, you may have to try toggleing between “Test” and “Time Line” or switch “Meter” on and off.

Don't forget that CHOPs also has powerful audio abilities. The Beat CHOP comes to mind right now. In fact, it has been used many times to drive animation from music procedurally.

another thing to keep in mind is that some distro's of linux (red hat for example), will require you to use .aiff in order to work.
