Hi,

Will there be any issues or concerns that may arise from the EULA on the use of Houdini Apprentice to generate OBJ files for use in public competitions?

I did run through the EULA [sidefx.com] and did not find/notice anything that relates to contests or competitions.

If not, would applying for the Houdini Indie a better alternative?

Or to put it in another perspective, are “Competitions” considered as “Non-commercial work”?

Thanks for any insights!

Found a portion of the EULA:

4.1 RESTRICTIONS ON USE
Section 3.9
Use the Software under a Non-Commercial License for Commercial purposes, or receive any form of compensation for work product created or work performed Using the Software under a Non-Commercial License.

I suppose non-monetary prizes won from competitions is a form of compensation?

It shouldn't violate the EULA as long as you're not making money out of it. I am not a lawyer but I would think that as long as the reward you're winning from the competition is not money or does not have monetary value you should be fine.

Thank you for the reply tinyparticle. I'll keep those in mind.
Btw, I emailed support before opening this thread, but they haven't replied as of yet.
Hoping to hear more opinions from folks here ^_^
