Can I render a region in MPlay ? I know it can be done in the viewport.

Thanks

I have animated water at the bottom of my shot which takes up about 1/5 of the scene. It will require alot more rendering time than everything else so essentially, I want to have the GI lights etc.. adding to the light on the water but would like to render it separately so that I don't have to render it ever time.

Usually I would render a region in Vray for this but Mplay doesn't seem to have this functionality, how would this be done in Houdini ?

Not really sure about this, but you can always try look at the Mantra settings and force phantom the object which you want to render, this way you only render out the object you forced on.

On the view tab of the camera object there are Crop settings, Left, Right, Top, Bottom…you can also set these by dragging the red handles when the camera is active in the viewing pane

this is how you can set the region to send to mantra, is this what you are looking for?
