emitting rbd objects from pop simulation -issue

I´m currrently trying to add some debris to my fracture simulation, therefore I use a pop simulation to emit the debris, however when I use a popsource in my popsim the rbd solver doesnt recognize my packed geo but when I use a poplocation as the source, it does.

I can´t see why it is working only with a poplocation as a particle source.

usually that's due to the emission type drop down on the pop source; make sure it's on ‘all geometry’.
