All,
Houdini looks good judging from the tutorials.
I an trying it out as a non-commercial apprentice. I am, however, having fits with the licensing. I get it working after much hassling, then I shut down, I come back and go through the same license hassle again. No, 30 days has not passed. As of last night, I can't get it to run at all.
Before I lay my money down:
Q: Is my current difficulty because I am using the free version can I expect the same even after I purchase?
Is anyone else having these difficulties?
Houdini 19.5
MacOS 13.4 M1
Nord VPN
Browser is Opera
My account on the SideFX web site is working. I did a password reset. They said it would help, but to no avail.
No matter what, Houdini can't seem to find the license server. It defaults to localhost:1715. When I try to change servers, I see an instance with the name of my machine: "abend2.local". I select that. It takes a long time (whirling colors) then seems to have changed but still no can find.
launchcl tells me the server (com.sidefx.sesinetd.plist) is running.
sesictrl cannot be found. homebrew can't find it.
Thanks in advance for any response.
Is trouble with the license server a common thing?
