I'm sure there's a simple solution to this but I haven't found it! How do I view a point group on a group node while manipulating a separate geo plugged into the group's "bounding object"? I want to see the yellow highlighted points while I move the bounding object but as soon as I don't have the group node selected it disappears.
Similarly, I'd like to be able to see the result of several nodes while I manipulate nodes upstream from the node I'm viewing. I know I can lock the parameter pane for each tool while having the node I want to view selected, but I'd like to just lock the viewport view to what I would get with the node I want to view selected - without it changing when I select other nodes.
(I'm not talking about the display flag on the node. I'm talking about how the view changes based on which node is selected.)
Hope that makes sense!

assuming your settings are set to Show Current Operator
- set Display Flag on your Group SOP
- select your box or operator that you want to see state/handles for, Enter the state
- click on empty space in Network Editor to deselect it
the viewport will show group highlighting again without exiting the state
