I am trying to build a standard LOP + TOP setup to render multi-shot scenes. I was following the (wonderful) LOPs for Solo Artists tutorials and was adapting some of the lessons there for my own needs and rendering with Redshift.
What I am trying to do is get a TOP setup that will let me export multiple shots that each have their own frame range. I achieved this with the ROP Fetch Node, but the problem is that it is not properly caching the rendered frames. I want to get caching working with this set up as manually adjusting frame ranges for shots after a failed or interrupted render is tedious.
I tried to use the newer USD Render Scene TOP because the documentation said it will "automatically extract the render output paths from the USD heirarchy" but it is not working for me.
First, if I have two shots (each a separate usd file), should there be only two work items? Or should there be a work item per frame? Secondly, when I cook the USD Render Scene TOP node, even though my local scheduler is on "single" mode, it instantiates two instances.
I would love some guidance here if someone has any thoughts. My hip file is included.
