Is there anyone else who uses the Karma Texture Baker to bake beauty results? I’ve generated low-poly cards for vegetation instances in SOPs, and set the direction from each point of the low-poly card to the camera as its normal to achieve baking similar to spherical projection. The baked result matches the outline of the vegetation instances, but I’ve noticed a slight difference in the final color, which should be caused by specular highlights. I’ve tried many settings but still can’t fix it. I understand specular results are view-dependent and shouldn’t really be baked, but my goal is to use the Karma Texture Baker node to bake the spherical projection render onto my proxy model. I’m not sure if the issue is due to my settings or a current limitation of the Karma Texture Baker itself. Has anyone run into a similar problem or can give me some advice on how to fix this?
It would be great if you could share your hip file for us or even better to log a bug. Thanks!
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure whether this is a bug, nor do I know how to log a bug. So I've organized my HIP file, removed most of the calculations in the SOPs, and only kept the baking nodes in the LOPs. The file exceeds the 15MB limit due to the stashed model, so I’ve shared it via my Google Drive. Could you please download it? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DJRzgb1aLMcRKw_Ua7vZ3fL1lAGjUG5_/view?usp=sharing [drive.google.com] By the way, I'm using Houdini 21.0.512 and the operating system is Windows 11.
