Issue with opacity ( megascans ) and dome light

Hi guys,
when I render any plant from below, I get these issues.


Turning of SSS did also not help. It does not matter what hdri I use. Opacity texture is a .jpg with only data in the red channel.
Mtlx_Image is set to float.



The Texture has some grey spots here and there, so I thought it might be the mip maps. I used a contrast in the shader and that almost fixed it. I tried disabling mup mapping alltogether in houdini.env but no luck as well:

export KARMA_XPU_DISABLE_MIPMAPS=1

Raising contrast to 5 with a bias of 0.01 fixed it. But is there something that I am missing?
It feels wrong that these Megascans textures are all off
