Hi everyone! I am exploring the idea of commercializing a set of tools for space station modeling. I had this product in mind for a while now as you can see. But with the addition of Copernicus into Houdini made the whole procedurally generated textures a possibility without having to depend on 3rd party software.
However before even starting I am running into a few question particularly as I am an Indie User:
Will Houdini Indie HDA's be limited to indie licenses, as the resulting HDA being .hdalc?
Is there a way to license restrict your HDA tools?
Is Orbolt the only way to handle all this problems?
I know there is Orbolt, but for a set of HDAs and other external tools it may be difficult to sell as a package. Any insights on this will be appreciated.
A workaround I can think of is blackboxing the hda with a python module that checks for license on install..... ??? that still not solves the .hdalc issue though.
CYTE I think orbolt makes a .hda from a .hdalc as a service. But I havent tried it myself.
Cheers CYTE
Not sure what are you referring to. Orbolt allows you to sell to different licenses but is really not suited for packages tools. Plus no offense but nobody uses it.
