I finally decided to update the public version of gren.py that allows you to render layers from Houdini in Sun Grid Engine so that it actually works with Houdini 9.1.
I can never get the Exchange to do proper searches for me, so go there [sidefx.com] and look for the latest submissions or perhaps through the “Other” section and find the one labelled ‘gren9.py’. It comes with docs, you will need to setup SGE but I cover the basics of getting the parameters on the grid configured. It's a measly 1000 lines of code, but it has quite a few features(supports threading, splitting render submissions automatically, deep rasters, takes, new features in H9.1 and is customizable) and SGE is robust. This is really intended for Linux-only environments, I haven't done any testing with SGE on Windows. If you have thoughts, feedback, drop a line!
Cheers,
J.C.
