After three hours trying to do an effect in Houdini, and then accomplishing it in 8 minutes with n-cloth (having never used N-Cloth before or even looked at the help docs), I am begrudgingly going to use Maya for a shot that I have of falling flower petals.

Issues with Houdini:
- sllllow to simulate
- must build my own tangential drag forces
- attempting to use the strong method results in the file freezing
- collisions with static objects tend to result in sizzling cloth

Have to agree with you on this one. Houdini's cloth system need to be improved. Maya's n-cloth is really good. It gets you 90% of the way there and the other 10% is a little extra work.

Hi,

The tangential drag-force issue has been fixed a few days ago in the 10.0 and 10.5 builds.
The speed and stability issues with strong bend model are known (bug 34707).
Stephen, it would be really helpful if you could send me one of the files that you tried to get working.
