Houdini Lounge » I have a polite feature request about the facial rig

I was thinking about raycasting the rigshape along the normals so you can use it on dogsfaces or bearfaces. If you could raycast or reproject the rig along different facial shapes that would be nice. And a tracker for tracking video. You basically do some point tracking, like you would normally do in a compositing package and link it to the vertex points of the facial control rig. Something like this with a point tracker like in compositing and linked to the vertexpoints.

I would be nice if we could have a shrinkwrap option for the facial rig. I mean if you want to use the facial rig for a dog or a bear it would be nice if it could shrinkwrap itself around the nose of the dog, bear or goat or whatever animal or character you want. You could just place the nulls or markers om the face and the facial rig would then remap itself to the new shape.
I shall file an RFE for this.

Houdini Lounge » Altus denoiser integration in Houdini Mantra -> comments on this

I'm subscribed to the Altus Denoiser newsletter and this is what they told.
We are starting to roll-out our Houdini plug-in which featuring an “Altus Denoiser” node for Mantra Renderer. This node allows you to integrate Altus directly into your Houdini workflow by using a COP node (Compositor). This works for interactive and batch modes, and exposes many of the Altus parameters to give you control over the denoised result.
Comments or is this an exclusive Siggraph announcement?

It would be nice if we got something like Chronosculpt in Lightwave. I've already send an RFE over this. That would make animation easier. If we could sculpt deformations and particles cloth simulation etc… An advanced edit operator over cached particle fluid and character animation.

Hi,
I loved the bear animation, fantastic work. The makers said the complicated simulation stuff didn't cut it. That's why I requested a null point deformer with falloff that you can use for rigging like with bones. These things can be very handy for adding cheek or lip eyebrow animation, secundairy skin movement etc… And I still have a soft spot for IK booster in Lightwave. For correcting radoll simulation or for simple animation of tails, ears, whatever.

Quadruped autorig for toe tip toe
Stretchy bones -> but that is already implemented -> perhaps a seperate node for making 2 bones stretchy -> I'm lazy, I know
A bird wing rig
Something like Ik Booster in Lightwave.(Basically an FK chain with control nulls -> I believe we already have something like this in the form of the spine autorig preset.) But IK booster in Lightwave is nice for tails tentacles adjusting ragdoll animation,
The option to use nulls with falloff for rigging -> For facial animation -> lips cheek puffs eyebrows or to use as a general deformer would be nice instead of the lattice deformer.
Easier mocap retargetting -> Softimage Motor -> a table with linking and joint length compensation was nice. I also like the Modo way of doing this. Very visual, easy for non programmers.

In Rhiggit from Lightwave you can even retarget a biped rig to parts of a quadruped.

That's about it. If we have presets, freelancers would certainly appreciate that. It would make their workflow faster.
I also hope you guys work on some sort of gpu or cpu based adaptive sampling or denoising solution for Manta.
Thanks in advance.

The voice of probiner sound familair to me.
That would be great news. Before Houdini I looked at Softimage until they discontinued it. And they say the original is always better then copy, so I decided to look at Houdini.

Hi,
Can you align HUD sliders vertical?
So that you move the slider up and down instead of from left to right.
Can you make a facial rigging panel with hud blendshapes sliders? Also wity joytrol mousepad arrow circle in square type
control. Like in the book “Stop staring facial animation done right”.
Thanks in advance.
