I have made a node network that generates a terrain from a map. I displaced the points in a point VOP and need the height of this. For basic geometry I can use $SIZEY for this but in this case it is not recognized by Houdini or just returns 0. I figured the $SIZEY does not work for everything, but don't understand where I can or can't use it.
Anyone who can help me out?
Cheers!

Technical Discussion » Rendering Glow material (Mantra)

I am trying to render out some geometry with the default Glow material. It is meant as research on how to render a holographic look for a project.
It shows up fine in the render view but when I render to disk the alpha channel stays completely black so what I get is an empty image. I figured this has something to do with the Glow being a material instead of a shader, I am still learning Houdini so I am not sure where to look to solve this.
Anyone who can help me out? Greatly appreciated.

Technical Discussion » Measure size of geometry for every axis

Thank you for the response, the transform approach is really clever and simple and definitely one I need to remember! The Match Size Sop didn't really keep the uniform scale as I wanted but I see some use for this node in my project so thanks again!

My goal is to uniformly scale down any input geometry so it fits in a 1x1x1 box.
For this I need to find a way to measure the size of the geometry for each axis, see in which axis it has the largest size and finally scale this down to one (by dividing it) and scaling the rest down by the same value.
Can anyone help me with the measuring?
Cheers!

Technical Discussion » Assign code-value to a Toggle Interface Parameter

I have a subnetwork which creates grids for motion graphics. In the parameter interface I want to specify the method of spacing with two toggles: by_Size and by_Copies. Only one method can be used at a time so I want to assign a value to each of these toggles to make them opposite of the other. So when by_Size is toggled on, by_Copies should automatically turn off and vice versa.
I am fairly new to Houdini so I thought maybe I am overlooking something I don't know about yet.
Cheers!
