Allowing shader parameter animation on imported materials?

I'm rendering a scene in LOPs of a set of meshes imported using a Scene Import with Import Materials turned on and I'd like animated shader parameters to show up in a USD output and USD render, but the animated parameters seem to be fixed on the first frame.

In the Houdini viewport, the materials render fine with the animated parameters, however if rendering from a USD output via topnet, the parameters don't animate.

I understand that the Material Library LOP has an option to "Allow Shader Parameter Animation" which sounds like it might solve the problem, however, the materials on the meshes in my LOP stage have already been assigned in another context (SOPs).

I've also tried the Edit Material Properties LOP, setting it to sample frame range and applying it to all the materials, but that didn't solve the problem either. Perhaps I am not using this node correctly?

I am outputting a single USD file with flattened stage if that makes any difference.

Here is an example file demonstrating the problem. I would like to see the animated color shift in the rendered image sequence from the topnet, but they are currently not showing up.
