Hello,

I'm absolutly new to the world of FX. I've intermediate skills in Rigging in Maya. Now I'm heading for FX in Houdini.
Where do i start? Particles, Fluids, Animation….?
I don't have a clue were to start.

Thanks for your help.

It's a long road, I don't believe there really is a good place to start, just that you practice as much as you can and try to do as many DIFFERENT things as possible.

http://www.cmivfx.com [cmivfx.com] has some wicked tutorials as well as Peter Quints free ones:

Good luck!

well these might not be the newest Houdini docs … but maybe still useful ones. http://www.digitalcinemaarts.com/docs/houdini/ [digitalcinemaarts.com]

and there's a nice tutorial about particles on 3d buzz .com – well it's also a bit older but free ^^

My suggestion is to start Houdini from sops. because with workflow of nodes in sops you could understand the background concept and style of the work in Houdini and later you could use it as reference in other parts of the software like dops and pops.
