Hello,
i downloaded the Apprentice Version of Houdini, and it seems like it doesn't install right.
When i execute the selfexecutable Zipfile, it starts installing and
everything seems normal, but after the restart it is not starting the setup
program, that it's calling at first.

Even, when i try to start the License Server it just hangs up, after 10
seconds.
I am using Win2K, and i have a permanent DSL Internetconnection.

Are there any known conflicts with other programs like virussoftware or so?

May I know where did you download Apprentice from? Just want to make sure it's not a problem with the file you downloaded.

Also, may I know what graphics card are you using?

i have a nVidia Geforce 2MX graphicscard with 32MB graphicsmem.
My system Mem is 512 MB.
i downloaded both versions, the one that is available at techimage and the other one from vislab (australia).
Could the filesystem be a problem? I instaled it now twice on FAT32. If Houdini hasn't to be on my C Partition i can also put it on another, where i have NFTS. But this shouldn't be really the problem or should it?

It doesn't matter if you install Houdini on a FAT32 or NTFS partition.

May I know which Win2K service pack is installed? We recommend that users have the latest service pack installed.

Also, if the installer is not working too well, please read this thread [sidefx.com] for some tips/help.

Also, may I know do you have the latest Nvidia drivers for your graphics card?

Thanks, i updated my SP from 2 to 3 and now it worked, without any problems, i didn't even have to do a restart after install.
Licensing and everything was easy. Great to have it now.
