the documentation says that, when the match profile checkbox is ticked, the loops position along the curve will be determined by a fixed distance and not a percentage along the curve.

I expected to enter a distance in units, say 5, and the cut will be made at a 5 units distance from the beginning of the curve.
Or 5 units from the end of the curve if switch profile is enabled.
But the result is still a percentage and there is no parameter to enter a distance. the edge percentage and split location fields only accept numbers in range 0-1.

Did i misread this?

Is there another easy way to cut a curve or insert a loop at a specified distance?
I know that i could measure the distance and cut via expression but i was hoping there is a simpler solution.

Currently the only way to use the polysplit sop this way is with an expression, as you've mentioned. But this would be a good thing to submit an RFE for (Support>Report a Bug/RFE).
