9995wx vs 9985wx 2025年8月8日6:12

TheNotepadShow
Hey Cool1986vfx,
My specs are as follows:
AMD 7980x
Gskill 6400Mhz DDR5 ECC RDimms (F5-6400R3239G32GQ4-ZR5NK)
Asrock TRX50 WS motherboard
Linux Mint 22.1 with 6.14.0-27 Kernel
Houdini 20.5.654 PY 3.11 GCC 11.2

My scores:
Grains = 159 secs
Pyro = 210 secs
Flip = 984 secs

I am curious if there is that much more performance from a 9980x vs 9985wx. I know there are more PCI lanes and 8 channel memory vs 4 channels... but is that worth the extra cost? Something to think about.
Thanks,
Todd Manus
Heya Todd Thanks for the Test, included to Google spreadsheet! Yeah I am always want to see WX as well in compare in this tests, it is more RAM Bandwidth, I think it is would less bottleneck, of course if Houdini have bottlenecks in there Sims.

Heya Guys, Hope You are well!
I need advice for Hardware to pick.

Maybe You have some experience with Pervious Gen Threadrippers 7000 and You could share Your toughts about.
I am trying forcing ppls for some benchmarking who have this hardware and able to do.
btw if someone would able do Tests Your Hardware Please do it, and post Your results with Yours Hardware specs on owner`s site in comments below, I`ll happy include it for sure.

I am trying analise why I could pick 9995wx against 9985wx,
here some data from VFX Arabia , it is including 3 sim test Pyro, Grain, Flip.
https://www.vfxarabia.co/post/houdini-benchmark-cores-vs-clockspeed-updated [www.vfxarabia.co]
and also Google Spreadsheet what I have made and include some information across internet
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Yn5J9JuOhepIE8dTGd6vthtm2jakLTpckilLWQSuqUc/edit?gid=0#gid=0 [docs.google.com]

but yeah Please let me know what do You think about, if it make any sense get higher or lower ammount CPU, and also they are single threaded the same, just base line is different.
96 cores 2.5-5.4Ghz
64 cores 3.2-5.4Ghz

Thank You!
All My Best.

timeshift material texture on Each copyed geometry 2019年7月24日19:30

I haven't had the time to test it, but my bet is you could build a string attribute on your copied geo to set the filepath and frame number using sprintf(), and query that with a Renderstate piped into your file texture in your material. I haven't done this with file textures, but it works great with geometry so I don't see why not.

Thanks, I also thinking about that and have tried replace randomly, but I think with that system its rewrite just
over everything with simple material and no timeshift, maybe if You have time make me sample, or any other example please, I am just lost

Thanks again
