2D Or Not 2D: Copernicus and Terrain Generation

Escape Studios | London, England
Saturday, May 30 from 9 am to 5 pm

Join Moeen Sayed for this exciting workshop where you'll learn to create a simulated and textured terrain in Copernicus. Hosted by SideFX, this session is your gateway into the powerful and evolving world of Copernicus. You’ll start with the fundamentals, exploring how it can be used for texture generation, compositing, and image manipulation. From there, you’ll push into more experimental territory – blending 2D and 3D in ways that unlock entirely new creative workflows.

As the day progresses, you’ll apply these techniques to terrain creation, learning how Copernicus can drive both simulation and look development. By the end of the workshop, you won’t just understand the tools – you’ll have built a fully simulated and textured terrain using production-ready assets provided to you.

Required Houdini Experience

This workshop is best suited for beginner to intermediate users. You should be comfortable navigating Houdini and have at least a few months of hands-on experience.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is ideal if you’re looking to bring Copernicus into your workflow and expand how you approach image-driven processes in Houdini. It’s also a great fit if you’re curious about alternative approaches to terrain creation and want to explore new, more flexible ways of building environments.
