Cinema 4D is not supported on any recent version of Houdini. You will need to run the license server from the most recent production build of the current Houdini release to run the older builds of Houdini that still work with Cinema 4D. Please report any issues to Maxon.

The Houdini Engine Plugin for Cinema 4D is linked to a specific build, or version, of Houdini.

You will need to follow the instructions on the Maxon site to install an older build of Houdini that C4D does work with.

When Maxon is launched, select Extensions -> Houdini Engine -> Get Houdini Installer.
This should download the correct Houdini version for Cinema 4D.

Cinema 4D R23.110 is linked to Houdini version 18.0.460.

Your latest Houdini licenses will run Houdini the latest and older.

When installing older builds, do not install the license server component for that build. You must leave your server at the latest.
