If you receive this error on OSX:

Load failed: 5: Input/output error 
Try running `launchctl bootstrap` as root for richer errors.”

To work around this launcher bug, open the Terminal from Utilities and type:

sudo rm /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.sidefx.sesinetd.plist

You will be prompted for your computer password. Type your password and press Enter.
Note you will not see any feedback about your password. It will seem like nothing is happening. Type the password and press Enter.
You will receive feedback once you press Enter.

Install Houdini using the old-style installer (not the launcher).
Ensure that the license server component is selected.
