The Houdini license tools cannot resolve the machine name. Setting Houdini to connect to the local license server over the loopback address will bypass the need to do a name lookup.

Launch the Houdini Command Prompt hcmd.exe and type:

hserver -S "http://127.0.0.1:1715"

You can locate the hcmd.exe command in the bin folder of the Houdini installation directory.
For example: C:/Program Files/Side Effects Software/Houdini 20.0.506/bin.
