H13 - Popnet - Normals are not used as Velocity

Sorry for this turbo noob question…

I want to use the normal attributes of my emitter to drive the velocity of my particles. In H12 it was working fine, but since the popnet has changed with H13, I don't really know how to do it. I tried with some VEXpression, but nothing seems to do the trick for me…

Thanks

You can simply use “POP VOP” !

Thanks you so much!

I knew it was possible to do it with Vop Pop, but I was wondering if there was a way to just call the normals via a variable (N) in a force op like we used to do with H12.

Anyways, now it works exactly as I wanted thanks again!

Ohhh damn thx Joker for that solution.

it drove me mad - a simple thing not working anymore from
one release to the next….

Does anyone know why its not working anymore and why we
have to use this hack now ?

I think it was changed for clarity. Since we are emitting based on velocity. It would be clearer if we simply specify the velocity is equals to the normal before emitting, if that's what we wanted. Admittedly, it was convenient in the past.

The other way is also simply to drop a point sop. Add velocity. And specify it to $NX, $NY, $NZ.
