Hi all,

I have an animated fbx from mixamo, the aim is to add hair and simulate it based on the character animation. I'm currently following this tutorial https://vimeo.com/240940636 [vimeo.com]
My progress went fine up untill around 27:52 when he started simulating hair collision using Guide Deform node. Instead of moving naturally, my hair would just get stuck at the hair tip and very elastic at the root? Here is an image of the scene https://imgur.com/a8MJuzV [imgur.com]
If anyone can tell me what the problem here would be great. I'm very new to Houdini and can't seem to find the issue here.

Thanks!

Just wanted to chime in, I'm running into this problem also if anyone has worked this out.

Essentially running any guide deformed groom object into a guide sim results in this weird stretching issue.

To anybody running into this issue I believe it is because you have to run a static mesh into the guide grooms, the animated deformed geo goes only into your guide deforms. So what you want to do essentially is create a copy of your animated geo at object level, go inside it, use a timeshift and delete channel of the frames to essentially framehold it or freeze it in that frame. Then use this geo as your static mesh. That should solve this issue.

I also have run into the same problem. And in my case I had it because of 'rest' node on geometry. When I turned it off, guide deform started to work properly.
